Meet our Guides -

Colton

Born and raised in the mountains of Colorado, Colton is a lifelong hunter, angler, and wilderness enthusiast. He started at a young age, learning to hunt and fish with his father and he spent nearly all his free time roaming the mountains and rivers of the Rockies. After serving in the Army as an Infantryman at Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA for just shy of five years, Colton settled down in Olympia with his wife Jess and their two dogs Ticaboo (Golden Retriever) and Monty (Vizsla). Colton has over 19 years of hunting experience and over 27 years of spin-casting and fly-fishing experience. He also has over 1000 hours of river rowing time and is experienced in complex rowing scenarios such as highwater runoff, class III river rapids, and river logjams. Safety is Colton’s number one priority and he believes that a focus on safety leads to a much more relaxed float and a better chance of seeing more wildlife. Rest assured, you are in good hands!

Jess is a nature/eco tour and mindfulness guide with a deep reverence for the natural world and the quiet intelligence held within it.

As a child, Jess’s dad taught her to rock climb in Rocks State Park in Maryland, not far from the farm she grew up on with horses, goats, dogs, cats, and chickens. He also taught her to mountaineer, and she has been hooked on the outdoors ever since. From the summits of Mt. Katahdin in Maine to Mount Rainier in Washington, she has traveled and hiked through almost all 50 states. As a cancer survivor, she lives each day to the fullest.

Jess is an experienced 500+hr registered meditation and yoga instructor, registered through the Yoga Alliance. Jess blends ancient meditation practices with the raw, grounding elements of nature. Whether leading a silent sit at sunrise, guiding breathwork by the water, or moving through forest trails, her calm and friendly demeanor invites others to slow down and connect with the earth, with each other, and with their own inner steadiness.
